Ballston and Virginia Square comprise approximately 418 acres or 2.25 square miles in Arlington County, Virginia. The area is a major sub-market of the Washington DC metropolitan region.
Since 1960, approximately 8.7 million square feet of office space has been built in Ballston and Virginia Square, providing Arlington with a downtown core. At the same time 9,000 residential units and 800 hotel rooms have been added to the inventory and approximately 1.9 million square feet of retail space.
Office vacancies remain relatively low, hotel occupancy is high, residential apartments lease quickly and the condominium market remains stable. Over the next five years, population density in Ballston and Virginia Square is projected to increase by 10.6%, higher than the U.S. rate of 4.8%.
