The Arlington Chamber of Commerce presented the 23rd Annual Best Business Awards, known as the ABBIES, on Tuesday, May 12. Among the honorees were two Ballston-Virginia Square Partnership members. Bowen-McCauley Dance was honored as the best non-profit business in Arlington this year. Arbour Realty, a certified eco-broker, received the “Green ABBIE” for its dedication to energy efficiency and sustainability.

What financial crisis? Banks grow more branches
Raleigh, N.C.-based First Citizens Bank is opening two more locations in the D.C.-metro area. One is a 3,500-square-foot Arlington branch at 950 N. Glebe Road, which will open early next year. The other is an office at 1717 Pennsylvania Ave. NW in D.C., scheduled to open late in the second quarter, giving First Citizens a total of four local branches.

Arlington Arts Center voted "Arlington's Best Visual Arts Venue" by Arlington Best Business Awards (ABBIEs)
Nearly 4,000 people cast votes for the very best Arlington businesses and venues in twenty categories of the 2008 People’s Choice Arlington Best Business “ABBIE” Awards. Awards were presented by Arlington County Board Chairman Walter Tejada at the October 22, 2008 County Board meeting.

The Arlington County Beautification Committee announced its first annual "Landscaping Recognition Awards" this February. These awards were given to recognize the extraordinary effort and outstanding results of commercial, professional, and non-profit properties in installing and maintaining attractive landscapes that enhance Arlington's streetscapes. Among the nine groups that received this award was Ballston Plaza for their landscaping at 1010, 1100 and 1110 N. Glebe Road. Congratulations!
