Farmers Market

Ballston Farmers Markets & Concerts

We are happy to announce the 5th year of operation of the Ballston-Virginia Square Farmers Market.

The 2009 Market will take place every Friday starting May 29th and through October 16th, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  There will be no market on Friday, July 3rd.

Fourteen vendors have signed up for the 2009 market season. Together they will bring locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh cut flowers and container herbs, all natural fresh and cured meats, artisan baked goods, organic coffees and teas, raw honey, specialty foods including handcrafted confections and more.

Live music by Dan the Man between noon and 2pm!

The Market is located in Welburn Square at N. 9th and N. Stuart streets across from the Ballston Metro on the Orange Line.

2009 Participants:
Baguette Republic: baguettes, boules, challah, focaccia, rolls
Barajas Produce: seasonal fruits and vegetables- beans, beets, broccoli, herbs, salad mix, mustard green, berries and more
Bistro Blends of Ashburn: Italian barrel-aged Balsamic vinegers, gourmet olive oils, marinades
Buffalo Ridge Farm: all-natural 100% grass-fed bison, Black Angus beef, and pork
Farmhouse Flowers and Plants: fresh-cut flowers, annuals and perennials (plants)
Fleurir Hand Grown Chocolates: gourmet chocolate assortment, chocolate coated honeycombs
Grace’s Pastries
: quick cakes, breads, scones
Great Harvest Bread: breads, cookies, baked goods
Guata Java: premium Guatemalan coffee
St. Ambrose Apiaries: honey, honey related products, 100% beeswax candles
Teaco: wide varieties of loose leaf teas
Tuckey Mountain Grown: seasonal fruits and vegetables- apples, apricots, grapes, cherries, pears, asparagus, brussels sprouts, leeks, carrots, cucumbers and more
Tyson’s Farms: varieties of seasonal produce- apples, peaches, plums, cherries, blue berries, strawberries, raspeberries, beans, zuccini, peppers, cabbage, beans, eggplants and more
Walnut Hill Farm: seasonal vegetables- corn, potatos, beans, kohlrabi, onions, watermelon and more

Applicants are encouraged to read the Market Rules and Regulations prior to sending in their application. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but we recommend you submit your application by May 1, 2009 for the best availability.
