The Ballston and Virginia Square communities celebrated the beginning of the holiday season at the annual Ballston Holiday Celebration at a new location - Kettler Capitals Iceplex. The event featured a public skating session and performance by Children’s Spanish Chorus directed by Cora Lee Khambatta.

The 2008 A Toast to Ballston - Virginia Square successfully raised over $7,500 for Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), a vital organization that helps supply food for families in need. Over 200 people gathered in the galleries of the Arlington Arts Center for the 3rd annual A Toast to Ballston – Virginia Square where they sampled international cuisines prepared by the area’s premier restaurants and drinks provided by local wine and beer distributors.

Food from 10 area restaurants, Premium Wine and Beer courtesy of Brown-Forman Distributors and signature Ballston-Virginia Square cocktails were enjoyed against a backdrop of fine art. The event was a fundraiser for both the Arlington Arts Center and the Ballston-Virginia Square Partnership.
